Who's There was a computer installation equipped with a modem that connected participants to a women's shelter in Amos, Quebec. By using new technology to dissolve the boundaries of the art gallery, I hoped to help demystify the battered woman's syndrome. I initiated this project in response to the overwhelming evidence of violence against women that I was able to document over a year's time, in my local newspapers.
I was supported by The Quebec Council of Art and Letters (Le Conseil des arts et lettres du Québec) to bring this technology to areas outside of the main urban centers.
'Qui est là', était une installation informatisée équipée d'un modem qui liait les participant(e)s avec un refuge pour femmes battues, à Amos, Québec. En utilisant cette technologie pour dissoudre les frontières de la galerie, je souhaitais démystifier le syndrôme de la femme battue. J'ai initié ce projet en réaction à la preuve accablante de la violence faite contre les femmes, que j'ai pu trouver dans les journaux locaux.
Ce projet a été soutenu par Le Conseil des arts et lettres du Québec pour apporter cette technologie dans les régions du Québec.
